1. Why can’t I order online?
Everybody’s situation is different. Your car might be missing needed brackets or other parts that you are not aware of. On the other hand, you might think you need a complete soft-top package, but this expense might not be necessary. Your convertible needs will depend on many things, and we have found that talking with the customer about his/her car works out the best. We know what questions to ask to get a correct profile of what your car needs. You get what you need in one order, and no more than you need.
2. Why don’t you list an email address?
Sully’s Tops has come to the conclusion that talking to the customer on the phone is a more efficient use of our time, and ultimately, of your time, as well. For this reason, we do have a toll-free phone number for your convenience: 800.451.3998. Please call us anytime, and leave a message if we are not able to answer the phone. When we are not on the phone determining your needs, we are out in the shop restoring frames and/or putting orders together to ship out promptly!
3. How do I know what parts I need?
Call us! If you are out of town, use our toll-free number: 800.451.3998. We know the right questions to ask. We will tell you where to look on your car for needed parts, so that you can see if you already have them.
4. Is Sully’s Tops the manufacturer, or are you a middleman?
We manufacture our reproduction frames and parts. Sully’s Tops was the first manufacturer of reproduction Corvette convertible top frames when we started business almost 22 years ago. We make all of the styles of frames for 1953-1975 Corvettes, and to date, we are still the only manufacturer of most of those models.
5. Do you make the actual cloth or vinyl top?
No; however, we only use tops of the highest quality. Call for more information.
6. Can I get my top date-stamped?
Yes. You can request this service at an additional cost.
7. How and when will my order ship?
Our standard method of shipping is by UPS. If you have another preference, however, we will be happy to oblige. If your order is in stock, and you need it in a hurry, we will provide next-day or 2-day shipping at an additional cost. We try to get your order out within one or two days of when we have received it. If we are out of what you need, we will let you know the approximate length of time before you will get it.
8. How do I get my original frame to Sully’s Tops to be restored?
The best way we have found is as follows: Go to your bicycle store and ask for a used bicycle carton. The size is perfect! Pack it so that it is secure, then send it via UPS, or your preferred carrier. Our address is 2888 N. Miami Ave., Fresno, CA 93727.
9. How long does it take for you to restore my original frame?
Turnaround time will depend on the condition and completeness of your frame. On the average, plan on 2-3 weeks from the time we receive your frame until we send it back.
10. Will you install the frame and soft-top on my car?
Yes. We cannot, however, put the soft-top on your frame until the frame has been properly fitted and installed on your car. Customers who have had us install their frame have either driven or hauled their car by trailer to our shop. If you do not live near Fresno, Ca, or have no way of getting your car to us, please give us a call and see if we can recommend a proven shop in your area. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYONE WHO TELLS YOU THEY CAN PUT A SOFT-TOP ON YOUR FRAME BEFORE THE FRAME HAS BEEN INSTALLED ON YOUR CAR. All too often, we have seen the results of this – a ruined top, and a frame that has been unnecessarily altered, leading to a costly fix. Don’t let this happen to you!
11. Will a Sully’s Tops reproduction frame and/or parts stand up to NCRS specifications?
Yes! Over the almost 22 years that we have been in business, hundreds of classic Corvettes with Sully’s Tops parts and/or tops installed on them have gone through NCRS judging. To our knowledge, our parts and/or tops have never caused any point deductions. In fact, we have been told by customers that NCRS judges have recommended Sully’s Tops to them for their convertible top needs.
12. Will an original frame restored by Sully’s Tops stand up to NCRS specifications?
Yes! Please see FAQ #11. The same goes for restored original frames.
13. Where can I see you in person?
Come by and see us at our shop: 2888 N. Miami Ave., Fresno, CA. If you are not planning on being anywhere near us, you can see us in August at Corvettes at Carlisle in spaces D-112 and D-113, across from the food court. Log onto www.corvettesatcarlisle.com for more information on when that event is this year. Give us a call to see if we have any other shows planned near you.
14. If I buy from Sully’s Tops at a show, can I get a discount?
Yes. Call us for more information on our show discounts.
15. Do you advertise in any of the Corvette magazines?
Yes. Check out our ads in Vette Vues, Hemmings Motor News, and Chevy Vette Trader.
16. What is powder coating?
Powder coating is process in which an electrostatic paint powder is first applied to bare metal, then baked in an oven to essentially become part of the metal. Powder coating is much better than simply painting. It prevents rust and is very strong, resisting scratches and dents. We also own a powder coating facility that is on the same premises as Sully’s Tops, so powder coating is part of our manufacturing and restoration process. If you would like any other parts of your car powder coated, as long as it’s metal, we can do it! We have over 200 colors available. Call us for a price quote.
